There are 55 rooms and suites between the recently refurbished old palace building and a modern tower wing (stay in the palace if you can!). But some parts of the hotel are off-limits to non-guests, so you quickly leave the bustle of the lobby behind. Because the Taj is such a landmark, there are tourists and locals who come and go from the hotel’s restaurants, shops, and bars, as well as the daily Heritage Walks around the property. Well-heeled internationals and well-to-do Indian families. (Security is extra tight, as the Taj was the site of a terrorist bombing in 2008.) You enter the sumptuous lobby, with its clusters of seating warmed by the glow from blood-orange silk lampshades, carried forward on the delicious scent of florals and spices-the signature Taj fragrance that’s piped into all the public spaces (I meant to ask if I could buy a bottle it was that bewitching). When your taxi pulls up through the throngs of families and tourists who choke the roads near the Gateway to India arch and you’re ceremoniously welcomed by doormen in traditional silk kurtas, you have that pinch me feeling of Wow, I’m really staying here? You’re in good company, as everyone from George Bernard Shaw to Barack Obama has spent the night here too.
S: Hotel is located quite in the interior of a street and that's y it's difficult to reach to the location.First, you take in the outside: The Taj Mahal Palace is a 1903, gray-and-white stone, red-domed wedding cake of a building that stands over Mumbai’s harbor. (don't book this hotel for luxury stay just at looking the photos provided). In short, if u r looking for a budget hotel with basic amenities and easy connectivity to all places in Mumbai go for it. Staff were polite and allowed early check-in.cleanliness of hotel and frequency of housekeeping is average. But hotel management doesn't have any issue with ordering of outside food (other than beverage).
This hotel do have a restaurant but do not have much varieties of food. Surprisingly u don't find ola or Uber taxis also. Difficult to find taxi (kaali peeli) and even if u find one they might charge double the actual fare.
Crewfort market is just with in half an hour walkable distance, if u love to spend time through the road sides of Mumbai, spending your time to enjoy a few street foods (most important it might take 20-25 minutes to the same place even if u travel by taxi or bus).įacts to be stated-Its extremely difficult to reach to the hotel just by keeping an image of the outside look (provided by the hotel management), although interior looks provided by the hotel are similar. This hotel is an apt place for those who prefer to go for a lot of street shoppings, where u can bargain and get things in a cheap rate or can get anything in bulk orders in a very comfortable rate.

They sent cab to pick us up, cab was on time, healthy conversation with the driver, driver was humble and picked up at the right location, ride was comfortable, cab was spacious, all our luggage got stacked in the back, 4 of us sat comfortably in the cab, hotel building is good and a tower building in the middle of the market area, reception view is nice, reception guys were calm and they did warm welcoming to us, they took our ids and allotted room to us within 10 minutes, staff guys took our luggage to the room, they were helpful and polite, room is quite comfortable, a bit small but bed was comfortable, sheets were neat and clean, there was a tv in the room, hot water with clean glasses, cabinet to keep the clothes, there is a dressing area and a chair, toilet is neat and clean, there were two towels there, two soaps and two shampoo sachets, clean bucket and a mug, beautiful washbasin and a mirror, overall great experience, must stay for families, price was also moderate
